2022 saw celebratory highs and emotional lows when it came to the royal family. The Platinum Jubilee, which marked 70 years of Queen Elizabeth II's reign, was followed swiftly by her passing in September. However, with the loss of one beloved monarch comes the beginning of a journey with a new one, King Charles III.
Although he acceded to the throne immediately upon the Queen's death on September 8, 2022, King Charles' coronation does not take place until May 6th, 2023. The ceremony will take place at Westminster Abbey, and we expect that the day will be accompanied by the traditional celebrations for grand royal occasions: street parties, crowds lining the streets, and plenty of people snapping up royal memorabilia to remember the occasion. Coronations, jubilees and royal weddings always produce plenty of merchandise, from the red coronation chairs designed for Prince Charles' investiture as Prince of Wales, to the elaborate porcelain produced by the Royal Collection.
We've lined up our favourite pieces available to buy now, with more coming as we approach the big day.

Tea Towels
A new tea towel is the perfect way to mark the coronation. Opt for something really smart, like this charming duo from Pentreath & Hall, or go for the more subtle Fortnum's offering. For those who want to mark the passing of the last monarch, this Emma Bridgewater piece is rather glorious.
Mugs
You can't go wrong with a new mug–and no one has ever had too many options for their morning cup of tea. We particularly like these cheerful picks from Marks and Spencer and Sophie Allport. As above, those who want to mark the King's coronation with a nod to Queen Elizabeth should head to Emma Bridgewater, who have a lovely selection of commemorative pieces.
Decorations
Whether you're looking for something permanent, like a new commemorative print or plate, or something more temporary, there is memorabilia aplenty out there. This King Charles III bunting is joyous, and we can imagine it strung up at a street party.
On the table
Those hosting a coronation day meal, or taking part in their local street party, will be really thrilled with Daylesford's selection of memorabilia. Tablecloths, napkins and teapots can all be used time and time again and, thanks to their rather subtle nod to the coronation, they can be used for birthdays, engagements and other celebrations.
Hanging Decorations
A token gesture to the coronation, these sweet hanging decorations can be popped on your Christmas tree once the big day has passed.
Food and drink
Those hosting a celebration on May 6th might want to mark the occasion with an appropriate tipple or treat. Biscuiteers have a selection of royal biscuits fit for a king, with images of Beefeaters, flags and crowns amongst blank biscuits ready for personalisation. Our suggestion? ‘God Save the King.’
For the grown ups wanting to toast to the new monarch, Royal Salute's 38 year old whisky is just the ticket. It's nutty and floral, and the beverage takes its name from the ancient stone used for coronations in Britain.
