Classic beef stroganoff

Name: Beef Stroganoff recipe
Yield: Serves 6
Ingredients: 750g fillet steak; 70g unsalted butter; 1 large onion, finely sliced; 1½ tablespoons hot Hungarian paprika, plus extra, to serve; 375g button mushrooms, finely sliced; 3 tablespoons groundnut or sunflower oil; 450ml sour cream; ½ Savoy cabbage; 450g buckwheat; 35g butter; Salt and freshly ground black pepper; 2 tablespoons chopped dill

Beef Stroganoff - Best Gluten Free Recipes, Food & Meals

This may seem rather retro, but it is a great classic. Kasha and cabbage is a simple combination which works really well, although traditionally it would not have been served with something as rich as beef stroganoff. Kasha (buckwheat) is sold in health-food shops and online.

To drink: A fairly full-bodied, slightly spicy red with a Mediterranean feel, such as Tierras Coloradas Old Vine Carignan 2010, from Spain, £10.95 at Waitrose.
