These silver-plated card holders would look very elegant when dressing a table for a dinner party, while retaining a sense of fun with the sun face design. La Redoute's sun dessert plates, meanwhile, are excellent value for a set of four and have a lovely, naive painted sun design, to add a Mediterranean touch to your table.
This unusual unusual lamp from Abask is a work of art in itself, hand-blown from Murano glass to bring a sunny orange glow to a room. The sculpture inside was designed by by jewellery designer Solange Azagury-Partridge.
Many sun motif pieces for the home are, understandably, decorated in zingy shades of orange and yellow. For those with slightly more muted tastes, you don't have to miss out on the sun. This circular rug from Heal's takes the form of a deconstructed design of the sunset on the horizon, but using analogous, neutral tones which would seamlessly fit in to lots of schemes. Likewise, this sun bowl is handcrafted and hand-painted in brown and blue by San Germán Pottery, a family-run Mexican workshop.
These repeat print textiles make the sun into a pattern and would brighten up a dining room or sitting room.
Some of the original Hornsea designs of the 60s and 70s (think the rich brown repeat patterns of the Heirloom and Saffron lines) are so emblematic of the period and are still collected today. Magpie have collaborated with Hornsea to revive and give a bright, modern update to some of the original designs; we love these sunny patterned pieces.
Use Smythson's cards and envelopes, decorated with a gilt sun, for an elegant way to send out your party or event invitations. Acqua di Parma's Signatures of the Sun Oud candle, while not decorated with a sun design, instead distils the essence and spirit of the sun through its heady fragrance. It ‘brings the prism of the sun to a rich and mysterious interpretation, promising to diffuse intense oud across your home’, according to the Harrods website.
Historic Italian design brand Fornasetti has a plethora of varied sun-themed products that are simultaneously classic and quirky. Below are a few of our favourites.
We particularly love the Soli e Nuvole wallpaper, which is derived from an original 1950s design by Piero Fornasetti, who was inspired by the Italian island of Capri. It's available in six colour ways, but our pick would be the teal and rose gold option.
Urban Outfitters' bed linen is reliably good quality and is great value for money. They have a couple of abstract sun print duvet covers with matching pillowcases; our favourite is the Sunrise Natural set, which has a slightly Art Deco feel to its pattern.
Last but not least, add some sunshine to your coffee table or bookshelf with these books from Assouline and Monocle. The mammoth Assouline travel tomes always add a pop of colour to a room.
