After two decades of ownership, actor Sienna Miller is ready to part ways with her cozy thatched-roof cottage. Nestled amongst wildflowers in the English countryside, the Buckinghamshire abode dates back to the 16th century and is listed for £1.95 million with Savills, per Mansion Global. Sienna Miller bought the home in 2004, when she was in search of an ‘escape’ from the pressures of life in the limelight: ‘It was a time when there was a lot of press attention on me,’ Miller told Architectural Digest in a 2022 tour of the home. ‘I bought the house on a whim—it offers a sanctuary. I also wanted somewhere where family and friends could gather. It has a nurturing feeling; it is a home with a heart,’ the Layer Cake actor said of the half-acre property.
Spanning just under 2,000 square feet, the storybook dwelling hosts four bedrooms and four bathrooms in the main building, plus a petite guesthouse converted from a storage shed. While Miller passed the pandemic lockdown in New York, she tapped her friend, film director Gaby Dellal, to remodel the pad. Dellal transformed the estate’s gravel driveway into a wildflower meadow, adding to the dwelling’s romantic fairy tale look. She opted to curate the space with vintage furnishings and fixtures that suited the space’s antique vibe—though vibrant moments abound; the kitchen, for instance, was painted a soft pink. Among the many other thoughtful changes Dellal made to give the house a calming yet eclectic vibe, all of the lattice windows were replaced with reclaimed Crittall windows. Upstairs, the primary suite features a claw-foot bathtub, a private balcony, patterned wallpaper from Maison C, a Murano glass light fixture, and exposed beams along the vaulted ceiling.
‘Everything has a story, like the kitchen cabinets that were made from old school desks, and there is a real sense of place—it is an artistic retreat but not in any sense precious,’ as Miller told AD in 2022. ‘Every time I stay here, I discover new aspects.’
