The mattress world is one of multitudes, and it’s definitely not known for being user-friendly. To the average shopper, who hasn't spent the past five years of their life researching the ins and outs of every mattress on the market as our team have, there are hundreds of terms to understand. There are traditional pocket springs from luxury brands, mattresses that have royal warrants, mattresses that come rolled in a box, £80 mattresses on Amazon that lure you in and then ruin your back a few weeks later–and throughout the year there are a whole load of mattress deals and discounts to navigate. It can be a bit of a minefield, which is why we've done the work and research of testing out the top brands to see which ones make the cut, one of which we've determined is Origin.

If I'm being honest, I’ve been out here waxing lyrical about the Origin ‘Hybrid Pro’ for more than a year now. I’ve tested my fair share of mattresses over my five years in the industry (more than most people might own in their lifetime), and having put this one to the test personally, I can honestly say that it’s ticked every box on my list. It is easily the best value mattress on the market, even at full price, so throw a Black Friday sale into the mix and we can't encourage you to pull the trigger more.

Breaking down the layers

When online shopping for a mattress, the best way to figure out its quality is to look at it as a product of its layers. In the case of the ‘Hybrid Pro’, there are nine, high quality layers of innovative material, optimised to ensure you sleep well. Compare that to any other major mattress brand and you could be paying upwards of a grand for a mattress of similar construction.

To give you a quick highlight reel of what’s going on, it all starts with the pillow top (think contouring and soft), which is combined with a HexaGrid Plus structure for dynamic support and a weightless feel, a GraphiteCool ThermoLayer for temperature regulation (drawing heat 50 per cent faster than memory foam would without), a BambooAir Wool layer for moisture wicking and breathability, MicroSprings and TitanCore Springs for support and buoyancy and a comfort foam for extra responsiveness. If that’s too much of a mouthful, or just too much jargon, the main thing you need to really know is that all of this equates to an incredibly impressive hybrid mattress. But let’s dive into how it tested.

The results

We’ve now had multiple team members test out the Origin ‘Hybrid Pro’ mattress and it has tested incredibly well. Each reviewer has returned to the office remarking on how few aches and pains they have had after a week or so of sleep. One team member's elderly mother even put the mattress to the test and confirmed its comfort level. The most important thing to note is that we’re yet to hear any issues with it beyond the classic bed-in-a-box critiques like the offgassing or taking 24 hours to reach its full inflation level. Neither of which will bother you after day one.
