Founded by John Harris Heal in 1810, the legacy of Heal's stretches back over 200 years, from their workshops being used to sew parachutes during World War II, to continuing to support and stock the best new and upcoming designers as part of their Heal’s Discovers collections, as well as cult classics designed by the likes of Charles & Ray Eames, Georg Jensen and Michel Ducaroy, whose pieces are still stocked by Heal's today. The lavish flagship store at 196 Tottenham Court Road has been there since 1840 and contains the iconic Cecil Brewer spiral staircase, making any trip to the shop a real treat. In 2023, following a year of extensive renovation work, it reopened the doors to the sprawling space.

Now occupying some 7,000 square feet over two floors, the showroom is a one stop shop for those looking to invest in furniture. The store holds all of the Heal’s own collections, including the entire mattress collection, upholstery and cabinetry, as well as concessions for each of the designer brands. Today, this encompasses established design houses including Knoll, Zanotta and HAY Furniture, as well as emerging names, such as ceramicist Harlie Brown, painter Dawn Beckles and lighting designer Arturo Álvarez.
