‘We’re incredibly lucky these brilliant people have said yes,’ Claudia Winkleman said in the BBC’s original announcement. ‘I’d love to say we’ll take it easy on them and they’ll just wander round the castle and eat toast for a couple of weeks but that would be a lie.’ While the regular version of the show sees contestants vying for a cash prize for them and their families, the celebs are using their skills of deception and game-play to win a cash prize up to £100,000 for a charity of their choice.
It’s also been revealed that each cast member is receiving £40,000 each to take part, according to journalist Marina Hyde. Marina spoke about the cast’s fee with co-host Richard Osmond on The Rest Is Entertainment podcast saying, ‘…they were able to pay everybody a blanket £40K fee, right? I am spilling all my tea today. They’re paying them a £40K fee.’ So far they’re certainly earning their keep, with no end of drama, dubious tactics and poorly judged banishments.
Who are the Traitors?
At the very first round table, Claudia selected Jonathan Ross, Cat Burns and Alan Carr (a genius choice) as her first three Traitors. Only time will tell whether they are allowed to recruit, whose cover will be blown first and which Traitors (if any) will reign supreme at the end of the series.
When is Celebrity Traitors UK on each week?
The new series started on BBC One and BBC iPlayer on October 8 at 9pm. There are now two episodes airing each week, on Wednesday and Thursday evenings, for the rest of the month.
When is The Celebrity Traitors finale?
There had been rumours that the finale would be on Halloween – to add to the seriously spooky vibes – but the BBC has now confirmed that we will actually have to wait an extra week. We know now that the series will conclude on Thursday November 6 at 9pm on BBC One and iPlayer, with an extended 70-minute episode (the same length as the launch show on October 8).
On November 6, we will all find out who will win their share of up to £100,000 for their chosen charities. Will the Faithful manage to root out the Traitors, or will a Traitor take the entire prize?! After the finale, there will be an extended episode of The Celebrity Traitors: Uncloaked on BBC Two and Sounds, for which Ed Gamble will be joined by the cast, the finalists and Claudia Winkleman.
